How do we know if we're a good fit?
We work best with couples who care about how their wedding feels just as much as how it looks — the people, atmosphere, fashion, design, place and all the unexpected moments in between. Our approach sits somewhere between observation and direction. We don’t turn your wedding into a photoshoot or work from a formula, but we’ll step in when a little direction can make an image stronger. If you’re drawn to photographs and films that feel personal, cinematic, a little unexpected and true to the atmosphere of the day, we’ll probably be a very good fit.
Do you travel for destination weddings?
Absolutely. International weddings are a natural part of what we do.
We’re based in Europe and regularly work across Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and beyond. We’ve also photographed celebrations further afield, including Thailand, and are always open to travelling somewhere new. Travel requirements vary depending on the location and coverage, and everything is clearly outlined in your proposal.
How would you describe your style?
Our work blends documentary and editorial, with a cinematic sensibility and a strong influence from fashion, design, music and film.
We’re drawn to real moments, movement, atmosphere and the things happening around the edges, while also making space for more intentional, fashion-led portraits. We work with both digital and film, and approach every wedding individually rather than following a fixed visual formula. The result should feel personal, distinctive and true to the people and place we’re photographing.
Do you photograph multicultural and non-traditional weddings?
bsolutely. International and multicultural celebrations are a big part of what we love about this work. We’ve photographed weddings bringing together different nationalities, cultures and traditions, including Indian weddings in Europe and abroad. Multi-day celebrations are particularly suited to the way we work, giving us space to document not only the wedding itself, but the people, atmosphere and different energy of each event. We approach every celebration with curiosity, respect and an awareness that no two weddings should be photographed in exactly the same way.
How does photography + film work with IVAL?
Photography and film are approached as one visual story rather than two separate productions. We work side by side throughout the celebration, reading the same moments, sharing ideas and allowing each medium to do what it does best.
Ivana and Alen lead IVAL weddings, with trusted second photographers and filmmakers joining us when the scale or schedule of a celebration requires a larger team. Most of our destination work is booked as photography + film, although individual services may be available depending on the date and season.
Whats your turn around time and deliverables?
Deliverables depend on the collection and the scale of your celebration, but full wedding galleries typically include 500–1000+ carefully edited photographs, with larger galleries for multi-day weddings. Wedding films are usually around 8–15 minutes, shaped around the people, atmosphere and rhythm of the celebration rather than a fixed formula. You’ll receive a selection of photo sneak peeks within the first few days. Full photography galleries are delivered within approximately 50–90 days, and wedding films within 90–120 days. Your final photographs are delivered in a private online gallery, available for 6 months, so you can easily view, download and share them with family and friends. Everything is edited in-house so that photography and film feel connected as one complete visual story.
Do you shoot on film cameras?
Yes. We photograph both digitally and on 35mm film. Film has been part of our work from the beginning and we love the texture, imperfection and unpredictability it brings to a wedding story. Depending on your collection, one or two rolls can be included, with the option to add more. The film is professionally developed and scanned, and the final images are delivered alongside your digital gallery.
When do we book you and how does the process work?
We intentionally take on a limited number of weddings each year, so we recommend getting in touch once your date and venue are confirmed — particularly for weekends during the busiest months. The first step is simply to contact us and tell us a little about what you’re planning. We’ll send over the relevant collections and, if everything feels aligned, arrange a short video call to meet and talk through the celebration. Your date is officially secured with a signed contract and a 30% retainer.
We’re currently booking 2027 and 2028 weddings, and if your celebration falls close to one of our existing travel dates, feel free to ask!
How do we book you?
If our work resonates with you, the first step is to get in touch through our contact form. From there, we’ll arrange a Zoom call to get to know each other and make sure we’re the right fit. Once we decide to move forward together, your date is secured with a signed contract and a 30% retainer.
For elopement celebrations, our availability is currently focused on weekdays, allowing us to give these more intimate days the time and attention they deserve.
Do you create tailored proposals?
Yes. For larger, multi-day or more complex celebrations, we can create a tailored proposal around the schedule, locations, team size and type of coverage you need. We work closely with a trusted group of associate photographers and filmmakers who know our approach and can join us when a celebration requires a larger team or additional coverage. This is particularly useful for destination weddings, wedding weekends and celebrations with several events, where a standard collection may not be the best fit.
We’re not used to being photographed — can you guide us and help with posing
Absolutely! Most of our couples tell us exactly the same thing. Ivana’s background in fashion and portrait photography means she’s comfortable stepping in with direction when it helps, particularly for portraits, while keeping things natural rather than overly posed. At the same time, we leave plenty of room for things to happen on their own. Alen will often introduce small ideas or movement that help you forget about the camera completely. The goal isn’t to make you perform. It’s to make you feel comfortable enough to be yourselves.
Do you work with planners?
Yes — very closely. We regularly coordinate with planners on timelines, locations, light and the practical flow of photography and film throughout the celebration. For destination and multi-day weddings, we strongly recommend working with a planner or coordinator. A well-run day gives everyone more space to be present and allows us to focus fully on the visual story. If you’re planning independently, we’re also happy to recommend people we trust and advise on anything directly related to photography and film.
Do you send RAW photos / footage?
No. We only deliver carefully selected and fully finished work. Editing is an essential part of our process — it’s where tone, colour, rhythm and atmosphere come together and where the photographs and film become one cohesive story. RAW files and unedited footage are working materials rather than the finished work you’re commissioning us to create.
Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes. We offer bespoke, high-end fine-art wedding albums as an optional add-on. You’ll choose your favourite images from the final gallery, and we’ll guide you through the selection so the album tells the full story of the day in a natural, beautifully considered way. Each album is individually designed with a refined editorial layout, premium materials and finishes, and created as a lasting heirloom rather than simply a collection of photographs.
